Questions About Therapy

Do you accept insurance?

I am considered an “out-of-network” provider with insurance companies, therefore you would need to verify with your insurance the rate and/or percentage of reimbursement for out-of-network behavioral health services. If you choose to proceed with your out-of-network coverage, I will provide you with a detailed receipt, Superbill, upon the conclusion and payment of each session. The Superbill can be submitted to your insurance company directly by you for reimbursement. Please be advised that this is the only form of receipt/proof of service and payment that I can provide for therapeutic services. Additionally, I do not communicate with the insurance companies on your behalf.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy at B. Resilient begins with a 60-minute intake session, during which Dr. Prempeh gathers key background information and explores the client’s current concerns. Based on the client’s needs, goals, and availability, she provides recommendations for treatment frequency that feel both supportive and manageable. Ongoing sessions are typically 45 minutes. The overall length of treatment varies depending on factors such as diagnosis, consistency, and progress, with a collaborative approach to finding a pace that supports meaningful growth.

What is your therapeutic approach?

I strive to utilize an individually-tailored, culturally responsive, integrated approach to wellness, while also providing the highest quality treatment. Some psychotherapy strategies include cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, dialectic behavioral therapy skills, African-specific cultural interventions, and psychodynamic. As a native of Ghana, West Africa, I also have experience and interest in working with individuals and their families facing immigration challenges related to identity, biculturalism, and acculturation.

QUESTIONS ABOUT CONSULTATIONS

Can I request a topic that isn’t listed?

Yes. Dr. Prempeh has expertise in a range of topics and is open to exploring additional areas based on your interests. If a requested topic falls outside her scope, she will gladly help connect you with a trusted professional or resource. She is available for informational sessions, conferences, staff trainings, workshops, as well as television, radio, and podcast appearances. Specific topics and rates can be discussed during the free 15-minute service consultation call.

Are consultation services provided on a one-time basis or can you engage in ongoing consultation?

Consultation can be done on a one-time basis or ongoing contractual arrangement. My background includes experiences in providing personal development workshops that can be designed to suit your specific request, professional trainings to address the specific needs of your organization, and curriculum design that includes a series of lectures and/or trainings to support your needs. This can be discussed further during the free consultation call.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ASSESSMENTS

What is the Testing Process?

For new patients, the testing process begins with two initial psychiatric diagnostic interviews. If insurance preauthorization is required, our team will assist you in securing approval.

Testing fees include face-to-face sessions, as well as the time dedicated to scoring, interpretation, and comprehensive report writing.

What are the Insurance and Payment Information?

At B. Resilient, we operate as an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly. However, if your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement by submitting the necessary documentation to your provider. We encourage all patients to contact their insurance company before scheduling an appointment to understand their out-of-network coverage.

We accept payment via cash, check, or credit/debit cards. Payment is due at the end of each session, and a statement will be provided for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

How does payment and insurance coverage work?

Insurance Information

B. Resilient, LLC is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance companies directly. Clients are responsible for verifying their specific out-of-network mental health benefits—including coverage rates, deductibles, and reimbursement—by contacting their insurance provider prior to beginning services.

If you choose to use your out-of-network benefits, B. Resilient will provide a detailed receipt, known as a Superbill, after each session once payment is received. You may submit this Superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that this is the only documentation provided for therapeutic services, and B. Resilient does not communicate directly with insurance companies on behalf of clients.

Psychological Testing

Testing services include billing for the virtual diagnostic interview, in-person evaluation, and the time required to score, interpret results, and write the final report. A 50% deposit is due at the initial testing session, with the remaining balance due at the feedback session.
If prior authorization is required for insurance reimbursement, B. Resilient will assist in obtaining the necessary documentation after the intake is completed.

Helpful Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider

When calling your insurance company (ask for the Behavioral or Mental Health department), consider asking the following:

For Therapy Services:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What is my deductible, and how much have I met?

  • Are telehealth sessions reimbursed differently?

  • What is the reimbursement rate for CPT codes 90791 (initial intake) and 90834 (individual therapy)?

  • How do I submit claims for out-of-network services?

  • How long will it take for me to receive my reimbursement?

For Psychological Testing:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for psychological testing?

  • Is preauthorization required for any of the following CPT codes: 96130, 96131, 96132, 96133, 96136, 96137, or 96146?

  • If preauthorization is needed, how do I obtain the required forms or links?

  • What is the reimbursement rate for each of these CPT codes?

  • How long will it take for me to receive my reimbursement?

Be sure to document the name of the representative you speak with and ask for a reference number for your call. This can be helpful for follow-up and claims processing.

Payment Method

We accept Zelle (preferred), cash, or checks. Major credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), and Health Savings Account (HSA) cards can also be accepted for therapy services only. Payment is due at the end of each session. A detailed statement will be provided, which you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.
